Twenty-two Basij Districts to be Established in Greater Tehran

Speaking of the urgent need to double the number of Basij bases in Tehran, IRGC Commander of Greater Tehran, Hossein Hamedani, stated that “the number of Basij districts in Tehran will increase from six to 22.” According to Hamedani, “This goal is based on the Supreme Leader’s policy of extending the Basij’s reach. Six Basij districts, therefore, are not sufficient to organize 8.5 million people [the population of Tehran].”
